Sicher habt ihr in den letzten Tagen die unglaublichen Szenen der deutschen Turner verfolgt. Nach seiner Er\u00f6ffnungsbahn bleibt der deutsche Mehrkampfmeister\u00a0 Andreas Toba mit schmerzverzerrtem Gesicht am Boden liegen. Die ersch\u00fctternde Diagnose: Kreuzbandriss. Doch statt aufzugeben, turnt Toba einfach weiter und holt am Seitpferd unter starken Schmerzen die beste deutsche Wertung. Wahnsinn!<\/p>\n

Vor genau 24 Jahren haben sich in Barcelona ganz \u00e4hnliche Szenen abgespielt. Aufgrund der Bestzeit im ersten Lauf und einem Sieg im Viertelfinale galt der britische 400-Meter-L\u00e4ufer Derek Redmond als einer der Medaillen-Favoriten. Auch im Halbfinale schie\u00dft Redmond wieder aus seinem Startblock und liegt bei 100 Metern bereits auf Platz Zwei, das Finale fest im Blick. Doch bei Bei 250 Metern stoppt der Brite pl\u00f6tzlich in vollem Lauf, humpelt, h\u00e4lt sich den rechten Oberschenkel.<\/p>\n

Schmerzverzerrt sackt der Athlet zusammen, kann die Tr\u00e4nen nicht mehr zur\u00fcckhalten. Doch \u00e4hnlich wie der Turner Toba will Redmond einfach nicht aufgeben. Er rappelt sich auf und h\u00fcpft auf einem Bein in Richtung Ziel. Als w\u00e4re das noch nicht dramatisch genug rennt pl\u00f6tzlich ein Mann auf Redmond zu und legt ihm den Arm auf die Schultern. Es ist sein Vater, Jim Redmond. Er st\u00fctzt ihn, spendet Trost.<\/p>\n
