adidas ZX 500

The adidas ZX-series is probably one of the most famous series in the history of running. More than 22 different models have been designed and developed to suit anybody, any style and any level of athletic ability. adidas Originals designed the runners to cover nearly every terrain - from Sunday joggers to long distance runners, from the adidas ZX 220 to ZX 9000.

The ZX 500 was originally developed in 1986 as a running and off-road shoe, today it has become an indispensable part of the urban street scene. The aim of the high-tech running sneaker was to offer different quirks for each need - weather that be adjustment to weight, suctioning, podding, rubber or heel stiffness.

Covered in a nylon upper with velour trim, the adidas ZX 500 was available in wide range of colorways. With its TPU heel counter for added stability and EVA midsole, it’s ideal for anyone who has problems with motion control. In the '80s, serious runners set the pace in ZX running shoes that featured a high-tech design based on biomechanics research.

The classic running silhouette has already been reissued in 2002, and now in 2018 the runner is back again! The »RM« stands for »Restomod« and is an abbreviation for the quint essence of this new concept. »Restomod« describes the recipe adidas Originals have identified and applied on an icon to make it feel exactly right for today.

The brand with the Three Strips was inspired by the work of car tuner »Singer Vehicle Design« in California. Singer restores old Porsches to keep the look of a vintage car, but exchange materials, chassis and technologies with the latest innovation. adidas Originals has done the same with the ZX 500 RM, they restored and modernized the silhouette with the latest technologies like the BOOST cushioning!
