Puma Suede
Puma Suede
Definitely the most famous and one of the most popular sneakers from PUMA! - The Puma Suede is a true classic, which is largely responsible for the success of the German manufacturer from Herzogenaurach. With its launch in 1968, Puma created a true legend that will without question never be forgotten - far too great was and still is its influence on sports and culture.
The Iconic Suede
The low-cut classic comes with a striking Suede upper that is not only high-quality, but also breathable thanks to perforations. In terms of color, the robust suede is available in countless variations that provide clear contrasts in combination with the characteristic »formstrip«. In addition to classic design principles, the sneaker is set off by a white sole unit and by detailed brandings.
For us, the Puma Suede is an absolute »everyday« sneaker that simply goes with everything! In addition, the Suede offers us a real alternative to the numerous leather court styles from the competition..
Puma Suede - The low-key scenic sneaker
Decade after decade, the Suede has been worn by icons of all generations: from Tommie Smith's protest on the winner's podium at the Olympics in 1968 or the dominating performances of New York Knicks legend Walt "Clyde" Fraziers in the 70s. New York's breakdancing scene followed this up, with the Suede being considered the first ever breakdancing shoe. Skaters also discovered the classic for themselves too, and the Suede proved to be a true all-around sneaker. Therefore, the numerous limited releases with the most diverse collaboration partners have resulted. Among them are the fashion scene with Karl Lagerfeld or MCM, the music industry with Rihanna and Meek Mill or most recently the art-toy designer Michael Lau. Hardly any shoe has changed the world as much as the Puma Suede, and all this despite the fact that the sneaker actually seems so inconspicuous and simple.
Suede, Basket or Clyde - Very similar and yet fundamentally different
1968 is considered the year of birth for the Suede, which was originally intended to be just a suede replacement for the Puma Basket. However, NBA star Walter "Clyde" Frazier was immediately impressed with the suede version and asked Puma for another variation for his wide feet. Asked, and done! In 1973, the world's first signature basketball model, the Puma Clyde hit the market. All three models have written their own success story and have received numerous updates over the years. Among them the Platform variant for girls or the Mid version, which was particularly well received by the boys. However, the Puma Suede always stood out a bit - so much so that Helmut Fischer, Puma's chief archivist, once said, »The Suede represents what PUMA stands for as a brand.«
Puma Suede 50
2018 was the year - the Puma Suede celebrated its 50th anniversary. The whole thing was properly celebrated with the motto #ForAllTime - We look forward to the next 50 years!
