On uses different technologies depending on the model, all of which influence the way the shoe feels.

CloudTec® is the brand’s signature cushioning system. The Cloud elements in the sole compress on impact and are tuned differently depending on the shoe.

CloudTec Phase® focuses more strongly on a smooth rolling motion. The elements compress in sequence, creating the especially fluid walking feel found in models such as the Cloudtilt.

Speedboard® refers to a structural component inside the sole of selected models. Depending on the shoe, it can support stability, movement, and responsiveness.

Helion™ is a family of On foams tuned for different requirements. What matters most is therefore less the individual technology name and more the intended use of the shoe itself.

On Waterproof: when the weather does not cooperate

Many On models are also available as Waterproof versions. These styles are specifically designed for wet conditions and use a waterproof construction or membrane.

The Cloud 6 is lighter and more classic. The Cloudnova brings more tech appeal and volume, while THE ROGER suits a clean court-inspired look.

For training and gym use, the Cloud X family is the better fit, while Cloudsoma, Cloudvista, and Cloudrock move more strongly into trail and outdoor.

And if rain is part of your everyday routine, it is worth looking specifically for a Waterproof version.

On men’s and women’s sizing: what do M and W mean?

On offers many models in separate men’s and women’s size runs. That is why you will often see M for Men and W for Women.

This matters because the available size ranges and international size conversions can differ between M and W versions. A numerically similar US size is therefore not automatically directly transferable.

Always use the specific EU size or size chart for the individual M or W product. Many current models are recommended true to size at 43einhalb, but upper construction, foot shape, and intended use can still affect the fit.

Are On shoes only made for running?

No. The brand comes from running, but today covers much more than that.
