Jordan Air Jordan 9 Retro Space Jam "Tune Squad"

A piece of pop culture history is making a comeback! To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Space Jam, the Air Jordan 9 Retro “Tune Squad” is returning. Michael Jordan wore the 1993 model in Space Jam before eventually lacing up the Air Jordan 11. One of the highlights of this release is the special TUNE SQUAD packaging.

The Air Jordan 9 “Tune Squad” brings together basketball history and one of MJ’s most iconic appearances on the big screen. The colorway originally released in 1993 and was simply known as White/Black/Red at the time. Its later “Space Jam” nickname comes from the training scene in the movie, where MJ wears the J’s alongside Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck.

The design stays true to the OG. Smooth white leather forms the base of the upper, while black nubuck wraps around the curved mudguard and extends up to the padded ankle collar.

For the 2026 retro release, the shape has been refined and adjusted to more closely match the proportions of the original 1993 version. The signature speed-lacing system remains, along with the dynamically sculpted midsole and the outsole featuring words in multiple languages, symbolizing MJ’s global influence.

To mark the 30th anniversary of Space Jam, the retro also comes in special Tune Squad packaging. This comeback delivers serious retro vibes and should be an especially appealing collector’s piece for Jordan fans and ’90s kids alike.
