There are shoes that should not be missing in any existing sneaker collection. Without a doubt one of them is a pair from the Nike Air Jordan series. In 1985, the first Air Jordan was produced for "his Airness", basketball god Michael Jordan, and although his color scheme was initially banned by the NBA, which imposed strict color rules, the Air Jordan line became one of the most successful sneaker lines of all time. And deservedly so! The strong basketball silhouettes, their sporty stories and countless colorways make the Jordans an absolute must in the sneaker game!

Nike Air Jordan 1 – MJ’s first signature shoe

The story of the legendary Air Jordan 1 actually began with a completely different sneaker. The Nike Air Ship was actually the sneaker that was not allowed on the court of the NBA because of its dark color and lack of white color. Driven by the media and constant reporting that Michael was wearing the prototype of the Air Jordan 1, the shoe attracted the crowds. MJ and Nike each had to pay a $5,000 per game fine as soon as the star stepped onto the court with the shoes. Nike took advantage of this and from that point on promoted the Air Jordan 1 with the slogan "Fortunately, the NBA can't stop you from wearing them". The first Colorways were therefore naturally based on the colors of the Chicago Bulls. Today, the OG models "Bred" and "Chicago" are among the most popular AJ1 models and change hands for incredibly high sums of money.

Meanwhile the Jordan 1 is hardly ever worn on the basketball court. On the street, however, it is still extremely popular. The hype of the high top never stops, because hardly any other sneaker is as popular for collaborations as this one. The timeless classic, designed by Peter Moore, will probably never lose its relevance in the sneaker world.

The release of the Air Jordan 1 caused a huge hype, so Nike decided to introduce a new model every NBA season starting in 1987. MJ was not 100% convinced by Nike at the beginning and even considered changing to another manufacturer. But when Tinker Hatfield designed the Air Jordan 3 in 1988, all doubts were removed and nothing stood in the way of becoming a global brand. Over the past 35 years, several shapes and colors have joined the line. The latest models are innovative and set new standards in performance basketball shoes with low weight and the latest technology. The retro models, on the other hand, have proven to be popular lifestyle sneakers and are regularly released with well-known OG colorways, but also with completely new color schemes.

In addition, with the Jordan Brand, Nike is constantly adding new silhouettes to its lineup that stand out from the rest. These include hybrid models like the Nike Jordan Mars 270, which combines elements of Jordan classics with an air unit from the Nike Air Max 270. Or exciting lifestyle silhouettes, like the current Nike Jordan Delta and Nike Jordan Aerospace 720, which can hardly be surpassed in comfort. There is something for everyone at Jordan! Sneakerheads can certainly remember Eclipse and Pinnacle models. These defined the extremes in the brand some time ago. So Eclipse models were low-priced and served the Casual Look and Pinnacle models on the other hand shone with high-quality manufacturing, exclusive materials as well as details in gold and silver.

How do the Nike Jordans fit?

With your normal Nike size you won't go wrong with Jordans. Air Jordans are true-to-size, Air Jordan 3 and 4 are a bit more chunky, but should still fit you in your regular size!
