There are certainly not many cases in which an apple attracts people’s interest. This fruit had its first “big appearance” in the Holy Bible with Adam and Eve. The fruit also plays a significant role in Friedrich Schiller’s works about “Wilhelm Tell”. Today a bitten apple also awakens our interest - but at first we don’t think of a tasty fruit, but rather of a successful technology company from Cupertino/USA!

If you ask for a company that is famous for minimalist, functional design and publishes electrical products with a high recognition value, the choice falls unanimously on what Forrest Gump would call “some kind of fruit company”. Those who still don’t know where we’re talking about up to this point will know by now: “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” said the most famous co-founder of this „fruit company” once.

You’re probably wondering what all this has to do with New Balance and the 992 model. It’s no secret that Steve Jobs appreciated in his private life those combination of functionality and form as well and was always seen in the very same high quality shoe: the »Made in USA« New Balance 990 in grey. So the traditional brand from Boston now pays tribute to the man in jeans and turtleneck sweater, and presents a new pack that we called the “One More Thing” pack!

Inspired by Steve Jobs and his technical ingenuity, New Balance is also bringing back the “Made in USA” 992 silhouette - and not without reason! New Balance chairman Jim Davis has claimed that the original design concept actually came in a letter from Steve Jobs. He wrote to Davis because he was tired of wearing plain leather shoes and he wanted something “more sporty and hip”. He included a rough sketch of what he envisioned for the shoe and this formed the base that designers built the 99X series from.

There’s only one more thing to say: What a great pack - well done, New Balance!
