New Balance 327 - On the way to become a cult model

New Balance calls it "The upcoming cult model": the New Balance 327 has proven that even completely new sneaker silhouettes can attract a lot of attention. In early 2020, the sneaker was officially unveiled for the first time as part of a collaboration with Parisian label Casablanca. The reactions online were overwhelming, positive and full of anticipation for the new New Balance model.

The NB 327 was designed by sneaker designer Charlotte Lee. In an interview with Interview with Highsnobiety the British-born designer reveals, "I don't think anything could have prepared me for the demand or the positive reaction." Lee found inspiration in the NB 320 and Super Comp, both of which were originally released in the '70s. The '70s were a significant  decade for New Balance, where the famous "N" logo was first introduced. And it was also a MUST for the 327 - its bigger and more eye-catching than on any other New Balance model.

The NB 327 combines modern design with a touch of 70s style and makes the hearts of all retro fans beat faster. In addition to the unique shape and flared midsole, the oversized N branding in particular is a casual highlight of the modern silhouette. The suede/nylon construction offers optimal breathability and plenty of comfort, while the lightweight foam and few overlays reduce weight and guarantee a comfortable running experience.

After a very successful launch of the New Balance 327 x Casablanca, the Boston-based brand has released several colorways on the 327. From classic white or black to outlandish color combinations, everything is represented on the 327 - always with the touch of retro feeling. With such a success, it's no surprise that other brands like Aries, Concepts, Levi’s or MADNESS are interested in the sneaker and have been allowed to present their very own version of the New Balance 327.
