The journey of the adidas Forum begins back in 1983 in France. The adidas designer Jaques Chassaing wanted to develop a shoe for basketball players that could meet all requirements. His secret recipe? Listening. Chassaing tried to find the weak points of previous basketball shoes by talking to coaches and players. And his approach was to pay off: One of the points of criticism was the lack of support in the ankle area. As a result, he decided to integrate a stabilizing element into his new type of basketball shoe: The "Criss-Cross Ankle System" - an extra Velcro strap that encloses the entire ankle area and thus provides more support. In 1984, the Forum 84 then made its debut on the basketball court. That same year, basketball legend Michael Jordan wore the shoe while preparing for the Olympics. With a proud price of $100, the shoe was a real investment at the time - but despite the high price, the Forum held its own on the court and then found its way into the lifestyle sector.
